Celebrating A Special Day Through Flavorful Spanish Treats Along The Streets Of Valencia

The magnificent country of Spain is not only noted for its quaint old churches rich in history and culture, but also because of its delicious local delicacies. As a birthday treat, a pal of mine invited me for a relaxing lunch in one of the picturesque restaurants in Valencia. Our main course included "Rape al Limon," or fish in lemon sauce, which is a aromatic dish made of monkfish immersed in a zesty lemon sauce served with baked potatoes. The lemon sauce was impeccably done because it brings out the salty aroma of the monkfish without overpowering it. For the dessert, my companion ordered for a plate of the savory and warm "Tarta de Manzana," or apple tart, which is a pastry dish made with green apples soaked in lemon juice. The citrus essence of the dessert complements the main course, and the sweetness is just right, making it a noted dessert among locals and tourists. As for our drinks, we ordered for two foamy glasses of "Horchata de Chufas," a non-alcoholic drink made from flavorful tiger nuts, or "Chufas." The drinks were surely a fusion of tiger nuts, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon zest. Because of the wonderful views from the restaurant's balcony and the tasty Spanish recipes, it was definitely one of my best birthdays ever.
